To Prepare: Wash beans. Cover with water, add 2 T. salt. Soak overnight. In 2 qts. Water, put drained beans, 1 large onion, chopped, and a ham hock. Simmer for 2 1/2 to 3 hrs.
Add: 1 large can tomatoes
Red pepper, diced to taste

Juice of 1 lemon
Salt and pepper to taste
Simmer until ready to serve. This recipe makes 10-12 bowls and brings good luck and good wishes.
In large saucepan, brown meat. Drain off fat. Stir in water and remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer 20 minutes. Serve with crisp French bread wedges or crackers. Serves 6 to 8.
Brown hamburger. Drain grease. In large pot, combine soup, water, pork and beans, Worcestershire sauce and hamburger. Simmer about 1 hour or until heated through. Simmer even longer so flavors blend.
Brown hamburger and onion. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer 15 minutes. Serve in bowls. Top with grated cheese, crumbled taco chips, and a dollop of sour cream.
Chop vegetables very fine. Saute onions, carrots, and celery in butter until soft and golden color. Add vegetables to chicken stock and simmer until vegetables are done. Add flour to milk, stir well, and pour into soup. Stir and bring to boiling point. Do not let boil. Add cheese. This freezes well.
Put all vegetables in medium pan. Cover with clam juice. Add water to top of vegetables. Cook until tender. In large pan, melt butter. Add flour slowly, then add milk. Cook until thick. Add vegetables and clams. Heat through. Add pepper to taste. Add red wine vinegar just before serving.
Cover chicken with water. Add onion, salt and pepper. Slow boil for 20 minutes. Cook vegetables and save water. Cube the chicken and combine with vegetables and 2 cups vegetable water. Add 4 cans soup and the cheese. Warm through and serve. Great with other vegetables and bread bowls too.
Simmer all ingredients and enjoy. I cook this in a crockpot on low for 3 hours or so.
Boil water, chicken bouillon, carrots, celery and onion until tender. Add soup, milk, chicken, rice, salt and pepper and simmer 20 minutes.
Combine chicken, beans, diced tomatoes, salsa, garlic, chicken broth, (if using frozen, precooked chicken, use only one can), cilantro (or coriander) and cumin and cook in slow cooker for 6-8 hours on low. The last hour of cooking, remove chicken and shred it. Stir back into soup. Serve soup hot and top with your choice of: tortilla chips, cheese, sour cream, guacamole.
Combine potatoes, chicken bouillon cubes and water in heavy saucepan. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer until tender, about 20 minutes. In microwave, melt butter and add flour and milk then heat 1 minute. Stir until well thickened. Stir mixture slowly into potatoes and cook and stir until thick. Add seasonings and cheese.
Stir in ham, ham bone or hock, pepper, bay leaf, carrot and celery. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, cover, and simmer until beans are tender (skim foam from top), about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
If soup is too thick, add a little water. Remove ham bone or ham hock (if used) and trim meat from bone. Return meat to soup with tomato sauce and salt; simmer for about 15 minutes longer. Remove bay leaf.
