Italian Chocolate Bread

4 cups sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. butter
2 Tbsp. confectioners sugar
2 tsp. active yeast
2 Tbsp. cocoa powder
1/2 cup chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 425o.
Sift flour and salt into bowl, cut butter into the flour mixture. Stir in sugar, yeast, and cocoa powder. Gradually add 11/4 cups tepid water to mixture, stirring with spoon then gathering with hands.
Turn dough out on floured surface and knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cut dough in half and knead in chocolate chips. Shape into rounds, place on lightly oiled baking sheet. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for 1-2 hours.
Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes and reduce heat to 375o and bake for 15-20 minutes. Brush tops of rounds with melted butter.
If making smaller rounds, bake for less time.
