Frozen Banana Split Dessert

Absolutely one of our FAVORITE family desserts. We've been making this since I was a teenager and none of us have ever tired of it. I'm not a huge fan of banana-type desserts, but the combination of chocolate, bananas, and ice cream is just perfect. It is very simple to make, and I would recommend making it at least a day in advance as it does take a while to completely freeze. One more thing: chocolate is definitely my favorite thing, so why not have lots of it? Most of the time I will 1 1/2 the recipe of chocolate sauce ..... it is such a gooey, yummy sauce that the more the better :-)! I've never altered the ice cream flavor, but that could be fun! Enjoy and definitely give this one a try, I promise it will become a favorite!

2 c. graham cracker crumbs
1/4 c. butter, melted
2 or 3 bananas, sliced thinly
1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream
1 c. chocolate chips
1/2 c. butter
2 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. evaporated milk
1 t. vanilla
1 pt. whipping cream

Mix butter and crumbs together; cover bottom of 9X13 pan with graham cracker crumbs. Layer sliced bananas over crumbs. Slice ice cream 2 inches thick and place over bananas. Freeze until firm.

Melt butter and chocolate chips in a saucepan. Add powdered sugar and the milk. Cook at a slow boil for about 15 minutes until mixture thickens, stirring occasionally, remove from heat and add vanilla. Cool.

After above mixture has cooled, pour over mixture in freezer. Whip cream, adding some ¼ cup powdered sugar and vanilla. Spread over chocolate mixture and top with more graham cracker crumbs. Store in freezer.
